Album review

Was always a fan of Lonestar ever since i heard "Amazed" and each song i heard after that seemed to get better! The best ever song so far is "My front porch lookin in" and i got it in their greatest hits album called "From there to here". Had to order it from Gramaphone but the wait was worth it!

If you have time, do a online search for their videos, there's even an acoustic version of "My front porch lookin in" if you know which 'plumbing/piping company website' to look in. There's even a border collie in it! =))

The bonus track is quite sweet and poignant *wipes a tear*, it is an edited version of their song "I'm already there" with message from wives of soldiers serving overseas. I cannot help but think whether wives of people fighting these very same soldiers would relate to the song as well. That would be a really interesting song, with messages from both sides. War does not determine who is right, war determines who is left.

wanted to try something different from the old studs that i have been using so i got one of them boots with the new fangled slats. This model is for firm ground, 'cos i figured i might be using them at the cage or St Wilfred's, where astroturf like material is used.

Used them for the first time in a friendly on Saturday and they worked like a charm, despite the rather wet, windy and muddy conditions. =)

Celebrated the 30th year of my existance over the weekend, which i spent a part of being a little quite really sick because of this fateful drink. LOL

Big shout out to all who dropped by to say hello as well as the rest who couldn't but sent their well wishes. Felt really lucky to have such friends and it really made my day. =)

Had a few beers and chips and played some pool until the some of the guys who watched the match (Lions RAWK!) managed to drop by. Which led us to this drink, well, not much to say after this drink. Really. I do remember people asking me whether the liquid was really hot, and the answer is "not really", because my tongue was numb already after the first sip. It really went to my head and i was left in a daze......

The only point of note after that was that i got home at 4 and had to play for mass the next morning! Last time i ever do this....i think. LOL

i had to reconfigure my flickr box (I did like the previous dynamic one. sigh) so as to fit into the rather wide (like me) bar on the right. grrrrr. oh and i lost my sitemeter tracker. I can't remember my codeword thingie from my previous version (whom blogspot said would be stored indefinitely but i couldn't find it! argh!) so i dunno how. i hope i dun have to start all over again?!?

Ha! I managed to do it. Had to dust off my HTML knowledge stored in the recesses of my mind, but i managed to decipher the code and copy paste accordingly!

new settings for blogger

I have just switched to the new dashboard by blogspot and it is quite easy to use. I have been thinking about using wordpress instead because i thought the tags idea was quite useful, and now i don't have to! =) Now i just need some time to sit down and label all my previous posts.......

I did have a few problems initially because i caught bug to change during the transition from beta to actual version so i thought i had lost a post. Eventually that post was put up 3 times! I have since deleted the clone posts and normal transmission will resume in 3....2.....1............

cardboard results

Interesting. I have seen pictures of cardboard police cars being used in Japan. And now they are being introduced into NZ, not by the police but by the roadworks people. Should we all drive cardboard cars as well? =)

In other news, zeenie has been busy as the proverbial bee. Several exciting events coming up though, including a friendly soccer match this Saturday, a trip to Myanmar (how exciting) and zeenie turning 30. I shall endeavour to post more photos, especially once i get my hands on a new phone, which is a birthday prezzie from Singtel, 'cos now got offer for the phone i want.

to soothe a sore wound....

I was once caught up in the midst of public outrage at the spending habits and salary of a very public organisation, who seemed to favour the use of the courts as a way of silencing its critics. Anger gave way to Disbelief when it saw Confusion approaching the five-way intersection along with its twin Chaos. Now i am merely an observer on the sidelines as the circus drives by and i take a step back to survey the carnage.

that's scary

I just read a news story about an escaped convict who was armed, he met some people at a Lower Hutt firebreak and killed one and injured others. Me and Jeanie used to go up the firebreak for our walkies and i'd park at Summit road! Pictures of our walkies back in December 2004 can be found in a previous post (hmmm, have i been blogging for more than 2 years already?).

FYI firebreaks are strips of land going up the hill that seperates the greenery from each other so that in event of a fire, part of the hill can be saved. These hills are used by shepards to cross over from one region to another and i recall Jeanie wagging her tail when sniffing some momentoes left behind by her wolly friends.

Our band is seriously considering doing something out of our comfort zone this year. It'll entail us putting time and effort into this project but i think the results will be well worth it.....

That post sounded impressive until you read between the lines, to which you'll get:
Our informal group of merry musicians who play for mass every Sunday (not always the same mass sometimes lol) have decided to get off our lazy asses and practice some commercial songs so that we can brag about it to anyone who would listen to us that we have a band.

Oh, and our band remains nameless (how original). Any suggestions? My own (humble) suggestion of "zany zeenie and the zontabulous zonkettes" have been met with derision. =(

Oh, and zeenie's quote of the week featured Star Wars.

news hub?

Since when did we become the news hub of Bangladesh? This story made a passing mention at our Sunny-land which i found rather amusing.

Sometimes it is not money. In 2004, a European executive disappeared from an airport in Bangladesh and was apparently being held illegally in a local jail. A story in a Singapore newspaper implying that Bangladesh was not a safe place to do business was enough to get him released immediately...

Power leh. The newspaper merely implied that it's not a safe place already people scared and release hostage. What would have happened if they came out and said it? They get invited to tea? Or would the invitation be implied as well? LOL

2007

This new year promises to be a big year for us. FYI, zeenie and wibblewamble are tying the knot in November so expect to see posts about wedding preparations and other assorted (stressful) stories. We are trying not to make it stressful for anyone, so that it can be a fun day out, even for us, but it is not going to be easy.

My wish for 2007 for this bean bag of a blog is to have more pictures, more posts and more pandemonia than 2006. =)

Did you know 2007 is also a 'visit malaysia' year? Well, they ain't helping their cause with horror stories like these.
